On June 5, 2025, another edition of the Business Mixer – a meeting organized by the Katowice Special Economic Zone to discuss development opportunities in the region and local entrepreneurship – was held in Jaworzno. The event was attended by representatives of local authorities, development institutions and business. During the conference, the president of ElectroMobility Poland spoke. Tomasz Kędzierski stressed that the project to create a Production and Development Hub planned by the Company is not only the construction of a factory and production of cars, but above all a strategic way to develop infrastructure, competencies, the creation of modern jobs, as well as an opportunity for a stream of investments that will contribute to the further development of the region. During the meeting, Kedzierski also announced that with the start of the project, the company will formally move its headquarters to Jaworzno.
The EMP president reminded the meeting that on May 26, a new call for proposals in the “Low Carbon Economy Support Facility” program, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP), was launched, under which the company will apply for financing.
We have all the required approvals, precise business calculations, and we are prepared to start implementing the project in Jaworzno immediately. I am convinced that the maturity of our project, the potential offered by international partnerships, the scale of the planned investment and its anticipated impact on both the local and national economies are a real asset in applying for KPO funds,” Tomasz Kędzierski noted.
He stressed that the project implemented by the company is not only an opportunity for the Polish automotive sector, but also a developmental boost for the city and the region itself. – Changing the project’s formula to a production and development hub opens up new opportunities for the industry, as well as for local entrepreneurs and communities. Each 100,000 cars produced in Jaworzno, with an assumed production cost of 100,000 zlotys per unit, generates 10 billion zlotys of annual turnover, which stays here – with Polish suppliers, in power plants, in the pockets of employees. Above that, the region and the state will recover part of this sum faster than it seems – in VAT, CIT, PIT and other contributions,” he stressed.
Kedzierski noted that in the new formula of the EMP project, the nature of cooperation with the foreign partner is also changing. – Our project is no longer based on creating and developing only an automotive brand. We are building the industrial base of the future – a hub that will create thousands of jobs, enable the development of technologies and suppliers, but most importantly lay a lasting foundation for the future of the entire sector. Together with the partner, we are developing a cooperation model in which both parties benefit,” the EMP CEO added.
The previous model involved EMP’s purchase of the technology and development of the model range, which placed full responsibility for the success of the venture on the company and its owner. Now the project is to be carried out in partnership, which professionalizes its strategic management and spreads investment risks.
Co-ownership of the European brand and locating its headquarters in Poland increases the company’s control over the project’s development directions. The economic objectives of the project, i.e. technology transfer, job creation and development of local supply chains, remain a priority for us. We will carry out the project only in such a formula and only with such a partner that will guarantee the achievement of these goals,” said Kedzierski.
The EMP president also announced the formal relocation of the company’s headquarters to Jaworzno – This is not only a symbolic decision. It also has a practical dimension, related, for example, to taxes. The headquarters of a manufacturing and development company with a European reach will be located in Jaworzno,” he stressed.
Participants in the event, including the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Wojciech Saługa and Jaworzno Mayor Paweł Silbert, discussed the challenges and opportunities of Jaworzno as a developing economic center, as well as the possibilities of support for companies under European funds.
The Business Mixer organized by the Katowice Special Economic Zone is a cyclical initiative aimed at integrating the business community with public administration and institutions supporting economic development. These meetings serve to create a space for the exchange of experience, networking and establishing partnerships based on the specific investment and development needs of companies operating in the region.
